I used to go to the former burrito place called High Tech Burrito, but that was years ago.  It was never very high tech but I was kind of a regular because it had pretty healthy veggie options.  Fast forward a few years ago they disappeared and Dona Maria came into the space.  I had been to the Dona Maria on Bascom down the street once and didn't like the food or the veggie options so I kind of ignored this place.  Well I was in the area and thought I would at least check out the menu once again and see if anything looked interesting.

Menu is not very exciting for vegans or vegetarians for that matter but what saves the day is the have two veggie burritos.  One is veggie and the other is veggie veggie.  The veggie one is basic rice and beans and the veggie veggie is much more advanced with actual veggies and avocado in the mix.  The beans the serve it with are pinto but you can ask for black beans instead.  I'm not partial I like them all but to mix things up I usually alternate from black to pinto.  They are both vegan and if you hold off on the cheese you can make your whole burrito diary free.  The first time I was here I had the veggie veggie with black beans in a flour tortilla and it was delicious.  The tortilla was super hot and soft pillow-y tasting not hard and crusty like you find at some taco joints.  The beans were very large and were melt-y tasting versus starchy tasting.  There were not a lot of veggies but what was in the burrito was fresh and not overcooked.  Avocado always puts it over the top and adds the fat that cheese normally provides.  They provide two salsas at the table here one is green and one is orange.  Both are pretty good and not too spicy but not tame either.

Last time I was there I branched out and decided to get the burrito majado style.  I was not sure whether to get the green or red sauce on top so opted for the Christmas style.  This is where you get both green and red and they did a good job of putting a good amount of sauce on each side of the burrito.  Looked pretty and it added a great flavor to the burrito.  I'm always amazed how the burrito absorbs all that sauce by the end.  I used it also to dip the tortilla chips in both and it was tasty.

All in all looking back I should have come here earlier.  Just shows you that your average Yelp review is not always a predictor to your individual pallet.  The only thing keeping me from giving them a 5 star review is for more menu options for veg heads.  Maybe a little tofu to add to the burrito or mushroom tacos.  Also they only give you a small amount of free chips but at least they are free.  Total price of admission is a little over $10 and that's reasonable considering the burritos are pretty decent size.  Overall Donna Marie is cooking up some tasty Mexican fare.  Will be back.

I ordered Traditional style Pozole.  The taste was delicious but the quantity you receive for $15 isn't much. Half my bowl was filled with meat on bones, which I specially asked to NOT have.

Service was also slow! I'll try this place one more time and see if my initial visit was a fluke.

    Food poisoning!  Beware!

I had ordered a chicken burrito with veggies inside (as it is my favorite dish) as I have done so many times before. However, when I finished eating by 3 or 4 o'clock, I was throwing up everything that I just ate (which the burrito was the only thing I ate the last half of the day) at 9 or 10 o'clock at night.  I have had food poisoning earlier this year.  Hence, I know what the symptoms are:  Delirium, paralysis or chilling of the arms and legs, sudden sweat and fevers, a severe headache almost to the point of migraine, and, of course, the crème de la crème:  Vomit.

Of course, everyone reading this review will think the occurrence to be a fluke.  Keep in mind, however, my family and I are no strangers to this restaurant. We have ordered food from this restaurant on several prior occasions with no issue(s) whatsoever.  What's more is that we all have pretty healthy and strong immune systems; hence, why no one in my family before two days ago has ever complained about food poisoning due to having eaten spoiled meat or rotten veggies in their food, as those things weren't ever present before/there weren't any issues.

I do not know who was on staff/in the kitchen two days ago during the mid-to-late part of the afternoon/early evening; but, I will tell everyone that I know that I will never allow another member of my family or inner circle of friend's order from here again.  Please find yourselves another restaurant!  Spare yourself(ves) the embarrassment and the upsetment!

Not too shabby! My understanding is that this is a new location. The interior does look newly remodeled. I saw their lackluster Yelp rating and entered with expectation of a C rated Mexican place. I was met by a pleasant professional staff and an inviting atmosphere. I ordered tacos and a beer and the food came out quick and the beer cold. How could I complain? The service was good, the tacos were good and the beer did the job. Thumbs up! I would have gone 5 stars but the taco shells appeared to be pre made (store bought?) They weren't bad but fresh would have been better. Maybe I should just go soft tacos next time.
